Sara + Ryan | Engagement | Christmas Tree Farm & Lake

The first rays of light softly bounced off of the tops of the trees. Every so often a lone car would pass us, but for the most part, the road was deserted. Most of the world hadn’t even begun to think about waking up yet. But there we were, sitting in the Christmas tree farm parking lot, more excited than we had been in a long time for a photo shoot. This one was going to be unique, and we were thrilled to see what would happen…

But first, a question: Have you ever wanted the gorgeous light from a sunset photo shoot, but your schedule would never allow for it? Well, you could do one of two things: you could fly halfway around the world…or you could do what Ryan and Sara did and plan a “sunRISE” engagement shoot!

Although these two are getting married out in gorgeous Colorado, they still wanted to celebrate Ryan’s stomping grounds; so engagement pictures in Michigan were a “must!” We started chatting with them about possible dates and times and when they suggested a sunrise shoot, we jumped at the opportunity! These two were such troopers, waking up super early AND getting dressed up for their photo shoot long before most people had even gotten out of bed. Even though we had never met each other, we were instantly listening to each others stories and laughing as we heard stories of how Ryan and Sara had first met and then proposed! Surprisingly, Michigan weather was on our side and clouds were nowhere in site as the soft sunlight started to appear, first as a soft glimmer and then slowly becoming a roaring flame! We ended the morning with getting to visit Ryan’s cabin where we got even more beautiful “lake portraits” before we said goodbye and then sped to the nearest coffee shop for a recharge and refuel.
